Volkswagen said to be considering takeover of Ferrari

Volkswagen is said to be considering the purchase of Italian automaker Ferrari.

While Chairman Ferdinand Piech has admitted to being interested in Alfa Romeo, Manager Magazin says the “real object of his desire” is Ferrari.

The company certainly has the funds to buy it. They have 19.6 billion Euros to spare, while Ferrari is valued between 2.3 billion and 3.5 billion billion Euros.

Even if Fiat Group isn’t interested in selling off Ferrari, Volkswagen would reportedly be happy even with a minority stake, and with the Italian automaker considering an IPO, such an opportunity may soon arise.
