Hyundai-Kia outsells Toyota to become best-selling Asian automaker in Europe

Hyundai-Kia has outsold Toyota in Europe to become the market’s best-selling Asian automaker.

Hyundai-Kia’s sales rose by four percent in the first ten months of the year to 521,369 cars, despite overall automotive sales in Europe dropping by five percent. Toyota didn’t fare so well however, with sales falling by 17 percent to 511,754, including the Lexus brand. These figures mean a 4.5 percent market share for Hyundai-Kia, up 0.4 percent from last year, while Toyota’s market share is 4.4 percent, down from last year’s 5 percent.

Part of this may have to do with Toyota’s recent recall troubles. However, Hyundai-Kia has also been generating a great lineup of cars recently, boosting sales all around the world. Their sales may even continue to rise in Europe, as they are said to be preparing products designed specifically for the market.
