Cadillac reportedly axing the CTS wagon

Gentlemen and ladies, a moment of silence, please, for yet another excellent wagon. If a report by Car and Driver is to be believed, then Cadillac is reportedly scrapping the CTS wagon when the next-generation model comes around — including the 556 horsepower, rear-wheel-drive CTS-V Sport Wagon.

Most gearheads understand the appeal of a good wagon. They have a low centre of gravity for excellent handling, but with enough space to have a usable daily driver, even if you’ve got a small family to haul around. Unfortunately, it seems that the average consumer in North America just can’t understand the appeal, with more and more wagons disappearing every year.

Most notably, the CTS-V Sport Wagon will be quite a loss for the car world. It packs a 556 horsepower V8 sending power to the rear wheels through a manual gearbox, all with practicality that could rival most high-riding SUVs. If that’s not awesome, I don’t know what is. Alas, if you’re in search of epic performance with day-to-day functionality, you may not have much time before you’ll be forced to settle for the sedan.
