For those of you who didn’t know, Volkswagen has been producing the Mk1 Golf in South Africa all this time. Only in South Africa, and a slightly modified version called the Citi Golf, but nonetheless. Now, they will be stopping production, and as a good bye to the Mk1, Volkswagen will be producing a Citi Golf Mk1 Limited Edition.
It will be fitted with a 1.6L engine putting out 160hp. The colour choice will be either black or shadow blue metallic, no other colours are offered. Only 1,000 will be made.
Rumours say that the Citi Golf will be replaced by the Volkswagen Gol (No, I didn’t mean Golf, it’s called the Gol), a cheap supermini which is very popular in South America.
