Now, I’m no fan of health and safety stupidity, but sometimes, it can really crack you up. This is one of those times. Ford has had to recall a whopping 243 Shelby GT500s due to an extremely serious issue with the tires.
Yes, this issue is truly insane. The scope is enormous, and the danger could threaten literally no lives at all. Ford hasn’t even made an apology. Shame on them. So what’s this issue then?
Well, Ford hasn’t labeled their tires properly, the size is incorrect, and they’ll be sending out new labels to owners to get it fixed. Yeah. Real dangerous, really requires a recall. Welcome to the world of health and safety. So if you own a Shelby GT500, don’t you dare drive it until that label arrives in the mail. It could kill you.
If you want to take this seriously though, feel free to read through the press release below.

FMVSS 110 Section 4.3(d) states that the tire size designation for the tires Installed at the time of first purchase must be shown on the ‘Tire and Loading Information’ placard affixed to the driver’s side B-pillar. An administrative error caused incorrect rear tire size information to be shown on the placard. All other information on the placard is correct. As of January 8,2010, there are no reports of accidents or injuries attributed to this condition.
573.6 (c) (7) – Basis of Non-Compliance Determination
During an audit of labels for 2010 and 2011 model year vehicles, the ‘Tire and Loading Information’ placard for the subject vehicles was found to contain an incorrect tire size for the rear tires. Subsequent review found that an inadvertent input of inaccurate data into the computer application that feeds the label printing system occurred on October 21, 2009, and all ‘Tire and Loading Information’ placards and Safety Certification labels printed from that date until December 3, 2009, for the subject vehicles contained incorrect information for rear tire size. All vehicles built in this period were equipped with the proper rear tires for this application.
573.6 (c) (8) ~Service Program
Ford has notified dealers not to deliver the affected vehicles until the rear tire size information is corrected. Ford will produce supplemental labels containing the ‘as built’ rear tire information to correct the ‘Tire and Loading Information’ placard.
