Famous automotive journalist and Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has turned 50 today!
Jeremy Clarkson is one of the biggest figures in automotive journalism. He’s been the host of Top Gear for as long as anyone 30 or under can remember, and many of the things he has said on this show have stirred up huge controversy. Let’s go through a brief list of what I can come up with off the top of my head:
- Piers Morgan feud (I’m sure most of you will agree that Piers deserved the punch he received from Jeremy during the 2004 British Press Awards)
- Calling Gordon Brown a “one-eyed Scottish idiot”
- Suggesting that BMW engineers are Nazis
- Saying that the Daihatsu Copen is “a bit gay”
That’s just a tiny fraction of the things he’s done. You have to admire him. After all, how many people do you know who could go on television, in front of 350 million viewers, and insult the Prime Minister of their own country, or punch Piers Morgan in the face during a huge public event? He also has a great sense of humour, and most importantly for our readers, he’s “one of us”, a petrolhead.
Anyways, have a good 50th birthday Jeremy, we hope you’ll live on for at least another 50 years.
