It’s finally official: Ferrari is recalling the 458 Italia due to a fire risk.
It turns out the latest rumour was correct, as this recall comes the day after FerrariChat poster jeff said “Ferrari Press Release tomorrow.”
The cause is also the same as rumoured. An adhesive used to attach a heat shield under the rear fender is capable of igniting under high temperatures, which can lead to a fire in the engine bay. The fix, as rumoured, will be a new heat shield, which is attached using rivets instead of the adhesive.
Ferrari 458 owners are urged to schedule the fix at their dealers as soon as possible.
