Saab to let buyers watch their cars being built through text messaging and internet

Saab will be installing cameras in their Trollhättan factory so that customers can watch their cars being built.

At first, customers will receive text messages at various points during the production process, with pictures attached. However, Saab global product manager Christopher McKinnon said that a live video feed may eventually be offered.

Moreover, Saab will allow customers to pickup their car directly from the factory.

This is all part of a major change in Saab’s production process. Cars will be built to order, rather than the normal process of building and then looking for buyers that Saab used under GM’s control.
