A screenshot of technical data leaked onto 1 Series fan site 1addicts suggests that the US-spec BMW 1 Series M Coupe will be getting an unbelievable 451 horsepower.
The screenshot features three cars with the codename “Pyrat”, which is the name used internally for the 1 Series M Coupe. All of them use the same engine, but the one which is labeled as a US model is shown as having a 332 kW variant of the same engine used on the other models, which translates into 451 (metric) horsepower.
While that definitely sounds awesome, it’s very unlikely. The BMW M3 develops just 420 horsepower, and it wouldn’t make much sense for BMW to make the 1M more powerful than its bigger brother.
More realistically however, a 135is was spotted among the technical data. It is listed as using the same 306 horsepower as the 135i, but it will probably make up by improving handling and going on a diet.
