A report from Jalopnik suggests that Chevrolet is considering a revival of the El Camino.
The car would be part of a plan to ensure the success of GM’s next-generation RWD platform, by ensuring sales are high enough across multiple vehicles and brands. It is unknown whether this will be the Alpha platform expected to underpin the next-gen Camaro, Cadillac CTS and ATS, or a new version of the Zeta platform.
If this does happen, the car will be released in 2014 as a 2015 model. However, plans for the production of a ute for the US have been under consideration for some time now, but would always end up being scrapped for one reason or another. Nonetheless, there’s always hope.
