New Lancia Stratos specifications revealed

Specifications for the new Lancia Stratos have been revealed, including a 0-100 kph (62 mph) time of 3.3 seconds.

That’s quite a quick figure, and the 0-200 kph (124 mph) time of 9.7 seconds is equally impressive. The top speed has been limited to just 274 kph (170 mph) due to a rear axle ratio optimized for acceleration. However, performance figures have not yet been finalized due to poor weather conditions.

To make the new Stratos go that quickly, the 4.3L V8 out of Ferrari’s 430 Scuderia has been taken, with a power boost up to 540 hp. Couple that to a low weight of just 1247 kg, and you get a power-to-weight ratio of 2.3 kg/horsepower.

As far as handling goes, the team says they “expect top marks for braking performance and a benchmark position in the 18- and 36-meter slalom and similar handling tests.” Numbers aside, the new Stratos has a shortened version of the Ferrari 430 Scuderia chassis, and if that’s anything to go by, the Stratos should be excellent. Moreover, the select few people who have had the opportunity to drive it have all praised its handling.
