If you were never a fan of the Nissan Juke’s bizarre headlamp layout, with smaller headlamps placing themselves above a pair of properly-sized lights, I have some unfortunate news — Jeep has followed suit with the new Cherokee, and put bluntly, it’s not looking pretty.
Now, I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all, but I’m not alone in saying that this thing is ghastly. There is backlash all over the Internet, with references drawn to aliens, anacondas, and a whole host of other not-so-attractive creatures. And if you think the included press shots are bad, leaked shots of a version with plastic bumpers seem to make it look even worse.
So, is it a good car at least? Well, no one really knows. As it stands, Chrysler has not revealed much about what’s underneath the car. They do, however, claim a 45-percent improvement in fuel economy over the outgoing Jeep Liberty. Hopefully we’ll find out more when the car debuts at the New York International Auto Show next month.
