Ford’s Swiss division has launched the Ford Focus WRC Edition, and first thing’s first, let me clarify that this is not a WRC racing car. It is just a special edition of the Ford Focus RS, made to celebrate 40 years of the RS division.
The car started life as a concept last year at the Auto Zurich Car Show. Ford of Switzerland’s idea was to let the world design the car. People went onto their website, submitted designs, voted on them, commented, and that sort of stuff. The most popular and appropriate design would win. In the end, the design shown above was chosen, while some of the runner-up designs can be seen after the article. It’s a pretty good design in my opinion, although I prefer the runner-up with black and blue stripes.
However, this special paintjob isn’t the only change from the standard car. The WRC Edition gets special Frozen White paint, 19″ OZ wheels in black, and plaques on the interior, which have been signed by Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen. Oh, and don’t forget that the car comes with all the fantastic features of the standard RS, like the 300 hp engine and advanced differential. This means 0-100 kph takes under 6 seconds, and the top speed is 263 kph.
So if you want a good looking hot hatch signed by race drivers, this sounds like a good option. Just be prepared to pay 55,900 francs, or about $52,126. Oh, and hurry, as production is limited to 50 units.
