Mazda launches MX-5 Matte and Black Special Edition

This is the Mazda MX-5 Matte and Black Special Edition, possibly the best looking MX-5 I’ve ever seen. It’s designed to celebrate the MX-5’s 20th anniversary in France.

Mazda launched the car at this year’s Salon du Cabriolet, Coupé & SUV in Paris. Changes are rather minimal, but good enough for my liking. You get matte black paint, which seems to make almost everything look drop-dead gorgeous, and black wheels. The engine is still the stock 2.0L I4 putting out 167 hp. Mind you, the MX-5 doesn’t really need improvement in performance.

The MX-5 has also reportedly been decked out in rhinestones, gems, and crystal by design label LK by Laure Kczekotowska Paris. However, I’m having a hard time understanding whether it’s this variant or another one. I’ll update you if I find out. For now, have a look at more pictures of the Matte and Black Special Edition in the gallery below.
