Toyota is saying that they are still working out the details of the floor mat recall fix for the second generation Prius.
They say that smaller pedals and new floor mats are in the works, but the modifications haven’t begun because they’re working out a more specific solution. Confusing, isn’t it? Toyota spokesperson Brian Lyons has said that Toyota plans to have all cars remedied “sometime this year.” He is unable to disclose an exact date, or whether Toyota is considering any other fixes.
Let’s hope that fix is worked out soon enough. If you own one of these, remove the driver’s side floor mat immediately and await Toyota’s fix.
