Acura has launched the TSX Sport Wagon in New York, based on the Euro-market Honda Accord Tourer. However, it’s not even close to the wagon we were hoping for.
We wanted a V6 under the hood, preferably with a manual, sending power to all four wheels,. What do we get? A 2.4L I4 connected to a 5-speed Sequential SportShift automatic transmission, sending power to the front wheels. They had the resources for a great wagon. The TSX sedan comes with a V6, and Acura has the amazing SH-AWD system, but they decided to give us this. We guess the auto industry still doesn’t want to give North America a proper wagon.
No power figures have been released on the 2.4L I4, but it will presumably be the same 201 hp, 170 lb-ft unit as in the TSX sedan. Mileages for the TSX Sport Wagon is estimated to be 30 mpg on the highway, but no final figures have been released and nor have estimates been done for city driving. Figures on trunk space haven’t been disclosed either, but the Honda Accord Tourer has 576 litres with the seats up (518 with the tonneau cover closed) and 1707 litres with the seats folded down, so the figures should be similar, if not exactly the same.
