Ford reveals facelifted Mondeo

Details of Ford’s facelifted Mondeo have been announced ahead of its official unveiling at August’s Moscow Motor Show.

The new model features a new chrome front grille and a new front bumper featuring LED daytime running lights. It also has redesigned tail-lights.

No interior images have been released yet, but it is said that the new Mondeo will have a redesigned centre console as well as a central overhead console and ambient lighting.

As well as cosmetic changes, there are mechanical changes, including the introduction of Ford’s 237bhp 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost engine which Ford claims will emit just 179 g/km of CO2.

The 2.2 and 2.0 diesel engines have also had a revamp and all EcoBoost engines will be available with Ford’s dual-clutch PowerShift transmission.

Final additions to the new Mondeo are a lane departure and blind spot warning system as well as an active grille shutter which reduces drag and helps the engine warm up faster in cold temperatures.

The facelifted Mondeo is set to go on sale in October.
