Lotus have started testing a new supercharged version of the Evora at the Nurburgring this week.
The Evora S, which is set to be officially unveiled at October’s Paris Motor Show, will have a supercharged version of the standard car’s 3.5L Toyota V6. This is expected to boost power to over 350bhp and increase torque to over 300 lb-ft.
The Evora S should therefore be capable of a sub-5 second sprint to 62mph and a top speed of 175mph+. As well as more power, the S variant will get better brakes and cooling, while a large rear diffuser will be one of few visual changes over the standard car.
The supercharger itself fits easily into the Evora’s engine bay because it was designed to accommodate one from the very beggining. This means that, unlike other supercharged Lotus’, the view backwards is not obstructed.
Lotus are also testing a torque-converter automatic version of the Evora at the Nurburgring this week, which will be unveiled alongside the S at the Paris Motor Show. Sales of both cars are expected to start straight after the show, with prices for the S starting at over £60,000.
