The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport has been put on sale in India with a price tag of $3.6 million.
The price, an equivalent of 160 million rupees, is the result of a 110% import tax set by the government in India. Cars will be delivered six to eight months after orders are placed. Bugatti will be joining Rolls-Royce and Jaguar Land Rover among the ranks of high-end manufacturers recently coming to India.
While this may seem like an odd choice at first, the combined net worth of India’s 100 wealthiest people is a whopping $300 billion, and a low volume car such as the Veyron Grand Sport could be sold out in no time in a market with such wealthy people.
