Mahindra delays US pickup launch indefinitely

Mahindra has delayed the US launch of their pickup trucks indefinitely due to legal issues between the company and Global Vehicles USA.

The company’s managing director, Anand Mahindra, said that the company now has “no date” for the US launch of the pickups.

“We’re still interested in getting into the U.S.” said Mahindra. However, he declined further comment due to a legal battle with Global Vehicles, the US importer with which they terminated their deal.

John Perez, chief executive at Global Vehicles, said, “The bottom line here is Mahindra now believes this is a huge project. They want us out of the way so they can go direct and save the money we were going to make.”

The importation of these pickups has been delayed several times now. They were originally set to be launched back in the first quarter of 2009, almost two years ago. The last launch date we heard from the company was December of this year, but it looks like that might not happen either.
