Porsche development chief Wolfgang Duerheimer told Automotive News that the company is planning a hybrid variation of every model line, in an effort to reduce their fleet CO2 emissions.
A Cayenne Hybrid is already in production, and a Panamera with the same technology is on the way. Moreover, the hybrid 918 Spyder will be put into limited production soon, and Porsche hopes this will help them learn more about electrifying their sports cars in the future. This is because the 911, Cayman, and Boxster will all be getting hybrid variants as well, but no timeframe has been given.
Since Porsche needs to cut down their current fleet average of 255 g/km of CO2 to 216 g/km by 2015, they are also looking into the use of smaller engines and reducing the weight of their cars.
