Australian V8 Supercars racing series granted international series status

The Australian V8 Supercars racing series has been granted international series status by the FIA.

The series is now permitted to host up to six international rounds for the next five years. Two international rounds have already been planned for 2011: a season opener in Abu Dhabi and the Hamilton 400 in New Zealand. However, the Bahrain round has been dropped.

More international rounds are under consideration, with suggested locations including Singapore, Korea and India.
