Porsche CEO confirms diesel version of Panamera

Porsche CEO Matthias Muller has confirmed that a diesel version of the Panamera is on its way.

Muller says the decision for a diesel Panamera was made in part due to the success of the diesel Cayenne.

Nothing official has been said about what diesel engine will be powering the Panamera, but it’s likely to be VW Group’s 3.0L TDI with 236 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, connected to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. It’s expected that this will get the Panamera from 0 to 100 kph in just over seven seconds.

We’ll find out for sure when the car is launched in the second half of 2011.
