Vauxhall/Opel Calibra to make a comeback

Nick Reilly, President of GM Europe, has told Auto Express that a successor to the Vauxhall/Opel Calibra two-door from the nineties is on its way.

“I believe we should have one, so we will have one,” says Reilly.

The Opel GTC Concept you can see above will serve as inspiration for the car. Reilly said the new Calibra will be “exactly this type of car.”

The GTC went on to form the basis of the Opel/Vauxhall Insignia’s design, and so this new coupe will likely share various underpinnings with the four-door. That means that we could be seeing an all-wheel-drive, 320 bhp VXR version.
