A sporty, non-hybrid variant of the Honda CR-Z is said to be in the works.
This car would swap the hybrid drivetrain for a brand new 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine. The new engine would also make its way into the Honda Fit/Jazz, Civic and Accord. The turbocharger, combined with Honda’s VTEC-i variable camshaft timing system, would help the 1.6L engine achieve power comparable to a 2.0L motor.
The engine would come in two variants, one developing 160 bhp, and the other with 200 bhp. The latter would likely power a Type R variation of the CR-Z, due late next year.
