Ford’s new fast Fiesta ST has been spotted undergoing handling testing at the Nurburgring.
The eagerly anticipated hot hatch will be the fastest version of the new Fiesta and will go up against stiff competition in the shape of the Renaultsport Clio 200 and Vauxhall/Opel Corsa VXR/OPC.
As yet there are no official figures but expect the ST to be powered by a 1.6L turbocharged ecoboost petrol engine producing around 200bhp. This should give the ST a 0-62mph time of around six seconds and a top speed of around 140mph.
Stiffer suspension, a lower ride height, a wider track and uprated brakes will improve the cars handling. There will also be recaro seats inside and a rear diffuser, boot spoiler and a large front air intake incorporating Ford’s new ST nose design on the outside.
The roll-cage featured on this test mule will not be included when the car goes on sale next year. Prices are likely to start at around £20,000 in the UK.
