Jaguar has released a teaser sketch of the new C-X16 sports car ahead of its official unveiling.
The long awaited spiritual successor to the iconic E-Type will be officially unveiled as a production concept at the Frankfurt motor show in September.
Based on the bigger XK platform and designed by the same Ian Callum led design team behind the XK, XJ and XF, the new car is supposed to signal the start of a new line of sports cars that Jaguar hope will “set new class benchmarks in design, vehicle dynamics and technology.”
Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s global brand director said, “Jaguar has set in place bold, ambitious plans for the future. This production concept demonstrates the depth of design and engineering ability we have within Jaguar to make these plans come to life.”
Prices are expected to start somewhere in the region of £50,000 in the UK, placing it above the likes of the Audi TT, Mercedes SLK and Porsche Cayman while also undercutting the Porsche 911 and BMW 6-Series.
