Part of the beauty of the automotive industry is undeniably variety. Cars of all sorts have been produced over the years – daily drivers, weekend toys, workhorses, and a wide range of others. But if you could only have one car for your whole life, what would you choose?
Before someone brings it up, let’s try and put reliability aside in this argument. Although it would be extremely important in the real world, it rather kills the fun here, and is also very much debatable.
My own choice? That’d be the current Audi S6 Avant. Although Audi claims 0 to 60 mph takes 4.5 seconds, it has been clocked doing the same sprint in just 3.7, so it’s a genuinely quick car, with plenty of space should you need to take anything along for the ride. It can be as long a ride as you wish too, because with the typical comfort and well-built interior of an Audi, you’ll never tire of driving it. The all-wheel-drive would also be very helpful here in Canada. With an EPA rating of 20 mpg (combined), perhaps the fuel economy is a little lacking, but as far as fast wagons go, you could do a lot worse.
