Official pictures of the VW Compact Coupe Concept have been leaked on the internet ahead of its official launch today at the Detroit Motor Show. Leaked details say that this is a hybrid based on the VW Jetta.
The engine is a 148bhp 1.4-litre TSI engine and it receives help from a 27bhp electrical unit. The combination of these two engines is said to power the Compact Coupe to 100 kph in 8.6 seconds but with a fuel consumption figure of only 4.2 l/100 km (45 mpg). It will also emit just 98 g/km CO2 and its top speed is said to be 227 km/h. Power from the engines is sent to a 7-speed DSG gearbox, one which is present on the latest Golf GTI as well.
Reports claim that the show car’s color is called “Tungsten Silver Metallic” and it will be presented with 19-inch alloy wheels and LED lights for the front- and rear-end. According to the information, the “CC” is set to make production in two years time.
Until official information is available, these are the only facts we are able to present.
