Subaru launches special edition WRX down unda’

Subaru has launched a special edition Impreza WRX for the guys over in Australia. This is the tenth special edition Australia has received.

It’s called the Impreza WRX Club Spec 10. It gets many changes from the STI performance catalog, including a front lip spoiler for enhanced aerodynamics, a flexible strut tower bar, a flexible lower bar and front support kit and 17-inch Enkei alloy wheels. The wheels are wider than the standards ones to stiffen the sidewall, reduce deflection and increase grip. The exterior will also get the usual special edition badging.

The interior gets a couple of changes too, with factory-fitted leather seats, sunroof and satellite navigation.

Only 250 will be made, available in a choice of three colours: WR Blue, Obsidian Black and Satin White. As far as I’ve understood, it will only be available in sedan format. Pricing starts at AUS$49,990, or just over US$46,000.

Press Release

SUBARU ADDS CLUB SPEC 10 IN 2010

06 Apr 2010

Subaru Australia will release its special edition Impreza WRX Club Spec 10 in May.

As the number suggests, it is the latest in a long-running series of limited edition Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive Impreza WRXs, each of which has proved a retained value winner.

The potent Impreza WRX Club Spec 10 adds several technical enhancements from the Subaru Tecnica International (STI) catalogue, plus luxury interior features.

An STI front lip spoiler enhances aerodynamics and improves stability and cornering.

A flexible strut tower bar helps to ensure the front wheels maintain excellent ground contact  to improve cornering capacity, while delivering a vibrant and sharp steering response.

The flexible lower bar and front support kit add strength, reduce chassis flex  and produce sharper steering.

Lightweight, 17-inch Enkei alloy wheels are half an inch wider than the standard Impreza WRX rim. The extra width stiffens the sidewall, reduces deflection and produces more grip, especially when cornering.

Comfort is also a priority and the Impreza WRX Club Spec 10 gets factory-fitted leather seats, sunroof and satellite navigation.

Only 250 will be built and all feature special edition badging.

Impreza WRX Club Spec 10 is available in WR Blue, Obsidian Black and Satin White sedan only.
