Reports suggest that the rugged Mercedes-Benz G-Class will be receiving some updates at this fall’s Paris Motor Show.
If these rumours prove true, the updates will include a minor visual facelift, new engines to comply with Euro 5 emissions standards and a complete interior overhaul, which will include plenty of technology. One of the new Euro 5 compliant engines will be a newly-developed twin-turbocharged direct injection V8 to replace the old 5.5L V8 in the G500. Power and torque will be increased, while emissions and consumption will decrease.
Additionally, the AMG variant will be replaced with a new one by 2012. This variant will use Mercedes’ twin-turbocharged 5.5L V8, despite getting the name changed from G55 to G63 AMG. The G63 will offer between 544 and 571 horsepower.
We’ll find out if these rumours are true later this year.
