BMW has announced that they will be running a voluntary recall of certain V8 and V12-powered cars, including the Rolls-Royce Phantom.
The cars affected are the 2002-2008 BMW 745i/Li, 750i/Li and 760i/Li, 2007-2008 Alpina B7, 2004-2010 BMW 645i and 650i, 2004-2010 BMW 545i and 550i, and the 2003-2010 Rolls Royce Phantom (Not including the Ghost).
The issue with these vehicles is that a leak could develop in the power braking system, resulting a reduction of braking assistance. Mechanical braking is still available, but loss of assistance can still be a safety risk, prompting the recall. No injuries related to the issue have been recorded.
Around 198,000 cars are involved in the recall. Notification letters will be sent to owners within the coming weeks.
