The next-generation Chevrolet Aveo could be called Sonic the Hedgehog the Sonic when it goes on sale next year.

The name change has been prompted by the poor image associated with the Aveo name. This name is often mentioned whenever someone asks what the worst car on sale today is, and rightly so, as the current Aveo isn’t exactly GM’s finest car.

While the new Aveo looks a lot more promising, General Motors probably didn’t want to take any chances, and so came the Sonic name. The name change is not official, but the “Chevrolet Sonic” name was trademarked on October 5th by the company.
