Audi registers SQ5 and RSQ5 monikers

Audi has reportedly registered the SQ5 and RSQ5 nameplates, suggesting that they could be planning performance variants of the Q5.

Rumours of such a car have swirled around since early last year, suggesting that the SQ5 could get the supercharged 3.0L V6 of the Audi S4, developing 333 horsepower, while the RSQ5 would receive a tuned version with as much as 408 hp. The chassis and brakes would be improved as well, and appearance tweaks would be implemented.

However, in October, it was reported that Audi would not be making any Audi SUVs with an RS badge. But now, Audi has gone as far as registering an RSQ5 nameplate. We’ll just have to wait and see how this unfolds.
