Audi has released design sketches of the upcoming R8 GT Spyder, based on the track-oriented GT version of the R8.
Judging by the sketches, it’ll look just like you’d expect it to: an R8 GT, with its fixed wing, front splitter, and matte grey exterior accents, but without the roof. While it will use the same 560 horsepower 5.2L V10, scrapping the roof has dropped the top speed down from 199 mph to 193.
The final car will be previewed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, and launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. A limited production run of 333 units is excepted, as was the case with the coupe. Pricing is expected to start at around £150,000, or $245,000 USD, when it goes on sale in the spring of 2012.
