Saturday has nearly come to an end. To some it may have been a very good day, and to others not so much. Whichever group you belong to, let’s end the day on a positive note with this photo of the unsung heroes of Le Mans – the safety cars. With the RS4’s throaty 4.2L V8, and the baritone 5.0L V10 of the S6, I’m sure these cars complimented the racecar noises wonderfully when called to their duties at the 2007 iteration of the race.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is, without a doubt, one of the most grueling motorsports events in the world, pushing man and machine to their absolute limits for 24 hours. Winning it, even once, is a great achievement. But Audi has managed to take home their eleventh victory today, with a 1-2-3-5 finish at the 80th running of the famous endurance race.
Audi has clinched their 10th victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in one of the greatest and closest iterations of the race ever.
Aston Martin has revealed that they will take on the Le Mans 24 hour race in 2011 with an all-new car.
BMW will be creating a 17th Art Car and fielding it at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year.
Audi has just revealed their new Le Mans racer, the 2010 R15 TDI, also known as the ‘R15 plus’. Audi hopes this will be the machine to beat the Peugeots at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The ORECA-Matmut team has officially unveiled their Peugeot 908 car to be raced in the Le Mans Series this season and for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The official Aston Martin racing team has announced its racing plans for this year. The British factory squad will enter its LMP1 car in major endurance events as well as selected blue riband races around the world.
Word on the street is that Porsche will be entering a hybrid in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring this May.
