In the first part of this series, we looked through some of the worlds most exotic cars, and how they battled it out in a showdown for the most speed last decade. Now though, it’s time to take things down a notch and talk about some Chinese automakers fighting their way into the big automotive world.

The Chinese take over

The Chinese are really moving up in the automotive industry. The invasion of Chinese cars has been predicted this decade but some people still remained skeptical. Their companies are making their way throughout the world, and they’ve taken over quite a few companies as well. Geely will be done buying Volvo from Ford sometime this year, MG was taken over by Shanghai Automobile Industry Corporation, Hummer was nearly acquired Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery, and Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Corporation tried to purchase Saab, and while they failed, they did acquire the tooling and rights to the previous generation Saab 9-5 and the pre-2006 9-3. Then there’s Great Wall, who are soon expanding to Europe and BYD, who want to become the biggest car maker in the world, which is quite an ambitious goal considering how relatively small they are at the moment. What will this result in? Well, it’s hard to predict. The Chinese might make use of their acquired companies and improve their own cars, or they’ll use their own technology with these companies and potentially ruin them. As for companies like Great Wall and BYD spreading into other parts of the world, it’s hard to say what those cars will be like. Guess we’ll have to wait to hear reviews.
