The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Toyota may have delayed the US floor mat recall of the Venza by six weeks.
Mazda is recalling the Mazda3/Axela in the Japanese and Chinese markets due to transmission problems.
The 2010 Acura ZDX is going to be recalled for an issue with the airbags.
Toyota will be running safety tests on all their SUVs following Consumer Reports‘ findings on the Lexus GX 460. Also, Japanese news outlet Nikkei reports that Toyota may already have a fix for the issue, and it will soon be released.
Detroit Free Press reports that the NHTSA would’ve fined Toyota an enormous $13.8 billion if it weren’t for the $16.375 million cap set by the federal government.
Automotive News is reporting that documents submitted to the NHTSA have proven that Toyota knew about the accelerator safety defects since early 2006.
Toyota is recalling 12,984 cars in South Korea for unintended acceleration issues, in which the driver floor mat could jam the accelerator.
The NHTSA is looking to fine Toyota $16.375 million – the maximum fine permitted – for the scandals related to recalls – more specifically the unintended acceleration recalls.
Nissan is recalling 4038 Frontiers, Pathfinders and Xterras, model year 2010, for loose fasteners securing the passenger front air bag module and the steering shaft positioning bracket.
