Honda recalling 2006-2007 Ridgeline

Honda is recalling 7,600 Ridgelines, model years 2006 and 2007, due to an issue with a wiring harness connector in the front passenger footwell. If your passenger, for reasons unknown to me and the NHTSA, kicks it, the terminal connector may overheat, potentially resulting in a fire.

2002-2003 Subaru Impreza WRX Recalled

Subaru is recalling 5,724 Impreza WRX’s due to an issue with the fuel delivery lines. They may leak, which could cause fire in the presence of an ignition source.

This recall applies to vehicles sold in South Dakota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Minnesota, Idaho, Iowa, Montana, Colorado, Wisconsin, New York, Wyoming, Michigan, Alaska, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.

The NHTSA said “During cold starts, typically under extremely cold temperatures, fuel leaks in the fuel delivery line could occur where the line connects with a rubber hose. Fuel leaks, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.”

Customers reported a fuel odour connected to this problem, so if you own one of these and sense that odour, you may be getting this problem.

Dealers will replace the fuel line to fix the problem. If you own a 2002-2003 Impreza WRX in the mentioned areas, called your local dealer to get the fix installed.

Other states will receive a warranty extension on the fuel line to 12 years/unlimited mileage, just in case the problem occurs there. So if you are outside the mentioned states but own one of these, have the fuel line checked and get it replaced if needed.

Land Rover recalls 2010 Range Rover

Land Rover Range Rover

Land Rover is recalling 4,001 Range Rovers, model year 2010, due to an issue with the passenger-side airbag. It may not deploy properly in the event of a collision.

The reason is a bit odd: The 2010 Range Rover “may experience airbag warning lamp illumination on the instrument cluster,” said the NHTSA. “This warning lamp may clear on each subsequent ignition cycle. The passenger airbag will be disabled when the airbag warning lamp is illuminated as a result of this defect and the passenger airbag warning disable lamp in the overhead console will also illuminate. Deployment of the passenger airbag may not be achieved in the event of a vehicle crash, increasing the risk of injury.”

The recall will begin December 21st. Dealers will update the vehicle’s control module with the integrated diagnostics system tool with updated software.

If you own a 2010 Range Rover, contact your dealer and arrange to get the fix installed. Refrain from driving the car until the fix is installed.

Volvo Recalls XC60

It must be recall season, because there have been an insane amount of recalls lately, and here’s yet another one. Volvo is recalling their XC60.

There are 8,438 affected cars. The problem is that the driver’s seatbelt could become detached from the seat frame in a side impact crash, as was discovered during safety testing by the NHTSA.

The NHTSA say “The driver’s seat side cover panel (seat control panel) in certain driver-side impacts may release the attachment of the seatbelt to the seat frame. Should this condition occur in a crash, the seatbelt may fail to properly restrain the occupants, increasing the risk of injury.”

There have been no reports of this happening outside tests, but better safe than sorry, so they’re recalling them.

Dealerships will be modifying the inside of the driver’s seat side cover panel to fix this. The recall should begin on December 15th.

If you own a XC60, my advice would be to call up your local dealer, or Volvo directly (US number is (800) 458-1552), and schedule the fix as soon as possible. Try not to drive the car until the fix is installed, as it’s hard to say whether or not you’ll get into a crash which may trigger this problem.
