Fiat Group has placed Maserati, Abarth and Alfa Romeo under the control of one CEO. Fiat Group Chief Executive, Sergio Marchionne, claims this is “to emphasize and leverage the value of the shared qualities of the three brands in terms of their sporting characteristics and performance.”
We posted yesterday about Spyker finally getting their hands on Saab, but not many details were available at the time. Now though, we can bring you some of the details on the deal.
Artega, a small-time German company which makes the Artega GT, has been sold to Tresalia Capital, a Mexico-based investment company. They’ve taken over 100% of the shares.
The confusing story concerning the Swedish car maker Saab and its future has finally ended today as GM has sold the brand to Spyker Cars. The brand was supposed to be killed by General Motors but as many bidders went and past, one finally triumphed.
Genii Capital has pulled out of the running for Saab, just a couple of weeks after placing their original bid. This leaves Spyker as the only remaining bidder.
Yes indeed, the Saab saga isn’t over yet. General Motors is still deciding whether or not to sell Saab, although reports seem to think that a decision is near, and now GM is suggesting that they’re hopeful by beginning production of the upcoming 9-4X (Pictured in the spy shot above). Also, Ed Whitacre has become the CEO of General Motors.
Officials from General Motors have said that the Caprice and El Camino may be revived in North America. While we have got the Caprice as a police interceptor, we’re talking about a road car available to public. Meanwhile, the El Camino would be based on a ute from GM Australia.
Build Your Dreams (BYD) plans a worldwide expansion for its cars as it wants to become the world’s biggest car producer by 2025. The Chinese car firm has big ambitions, one of which is selling 800,000 cars globally in 2010.
The Saab saga continues as reports suggest that Genii and Spyker have united their bids in order to save the Swedish brand from GM. The whole story is far from over and it is said to keep on going until February.
