Kia Insiders Still Want Soul'ster Built

Now, I’ve been a fan of the Kia Soul’ster ever since I first saw the thing. It looks so unbelievably funky. If they made it, I’d buy one in a heartbeat. The car’s future is at doubt though. Kia employees want the car built, but the car is still only under consideration.

PickupTrucks.com spoke with Tom Kearns, Kia North America’s Chief Designer, and he said “Kia’s internal design community is firmly behind building the Soul’ster. We’d like to see it happen. There’s no official decision to build it but it’s still possible.”

The main problem with making it is that the market for compact pickup trucks has been declining for years. The Soul’ster isn’t exactly a rugged car either, no space in the back for your bricks, and I guarantee you it’s no good at off-roading. So whether or not it would sell is quite a hard to answer question. Sure, I might be willing to buy one, and a few others as well, but the question is whether a large amount of people would buy it or not. I sure hope they would, because then Kia will make it and I’ll be able to get my hands on one. Well, at least when the government finally says I’m old enough to get my license.
